Teams' built-in transcription is locked to Teams
Microsoft Teams can transcribe a meeting, but it's gated by your organization's licensing and admin policy, it only works inside Teams, and the transcript lives in the Teams/Stream cloud where it can be hard to export or reuse. If your admin has transcription turned off, or you're on a call in Teams and another tool for a different client, you're stuck with a recording and no usable text.

Do I need my organization to enable transcription in Teams?
No. Vowen transcribes independently of Teams — it either listens to the call or processes a recording you've saved — so you don't need your admin to turn on Teams transcription or a specific Microsoft 365 license.
Can Vowen transcribe a Teams recording I already have?
Yes. Drop the saved recording (MP4, M4A, or MP3) into Vowen and it will transcribe the entire file, with speaker labels.
Does a bot join the Teams meeting?
No. Vowen captures the audio on your own device rather than joining the call as a participant, so nothing shows up in the meeting for other attendees.
Is my meeting audio uploaded to the cloud?
