I am LOVING the app, and have been telling everyone.
Record every meeting — without a bot in the room
Vowen records meetings from your own computer: your microphone and the other participants' audio, on Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Webex, or across the table. You get the recording to replay, a speaker-labeled transcript, and a structured summary — processed on-device, stored locally, with nothing joining the call.
Free download. No account required.
Most meeting recorders invite a stranger into the call
The standard way to record a meeting in 2026 is to let a cloud notetaker send a bot into it. Everyone sees "Recorder" join the participant list, the audio streams to a vendor's servers, and the recording lives in their cloud on a per-seat subscription. The alternative — the platform's built-in recorder — is usually gated too: Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet all restrict recording to hosts on the right paid plan, and the file lands in the host's account, not yours.
Vowen records at the source instead: your computer. It captures your microphone and the meeting audio coming out of your speakers, so both sides of the conversation are on the recording — no bot, no host permission gates, no plan requirements on the meeting platform. When the call ends, the recording is on your machine: replay it, export the audio, and get a transcript with every speaker labeled plus a summary in your own template.
A recorder you actually control
No bot in the participant list
Vowen records from your computer, so nothing joins the call. It looks the same to everyone else whether you're on Zoom, Teams, Meet, or Webex — and it works even when you're not the host.
Both sides of the conversation
It records your microphone and the system audio — what's coming out of your speakers — so the other participants are captured too, not just your half of the call.
Recordings stay on your machine
Audio is stored locally and transcribed on-device by default. Replay any meeting inside the app, and export the audio file when you need to share or archive it.
Transcript with speaker labels
Every recording comes with a searchable transcript that separates who said what. Rename a speaker once and the label sticks across the transcript and summary.
Notes, not just audio
Vowen drafts a structured summary of each recorded meeting — decisions, action items, follow-ups — in a template you define, backed by the verbatim transcript.
One-time price
No per-seat subscription for a tool one person runs. Vowen Pro is a one-time purchase, and there's a free tier to start with — recording and local transcription included.
How to record a meeting with Vowen
- 1
Start the recorder
Vowen detects when a meeting starts and offers to record, or you start it yourself from the menu bar or tray — in a call or in a room, with no setup on the meeting platform.
- 2
Have the meeting
Vowen captures your mic and the meeting audio in the background while you participate. No participant banner, no bot tile — just a recording indicator on your side.
- 3
Replay, read, or search it
Afterwards you have the audio to replay, a speaker-labeled transcript to search, and a structured summary — all stored locally on your computer.
- 4
Export what you need
Export the audio file, the transcript, or the finished notes as text, Markdown, or PDF — or send notes to Slack, Notion, or Obsidian automatically.
Record meetings responsibly
Vowen doesn't notify the other participants — you're recording on your own computer — so consent is on you. Recording laws vary: some places require everyone's consent, others just one party's. The simple rule that satisfies both law and courtesy: tell people you're recording. Also note Vowen captures audio playing through your computer — calls on a regular phone line aren't something it can hear.

What you've built is absolutely incredible. Extremely well done. I dictated this entire thing, which has saved me a significant amount of time and physical stress from typing.
